Rose Garden Area
The Rose Garden area got its name from the park known as the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden. This large 5 acre park became an official city park in 1927 with the help of the Santa Clara County Rose Society.
The actual rose garden is full of colorful and beautiful roses. There are 3,500+ different rose shrubs and 180+ varieties of roses. There is a gorgeous fountain in the center of the Rose Garden.
The city of San Jose maintains the park with the help of volunteers. The park is well attended receiving 8,000 visitors per year. It is host to weddings, graduations, and special events.
This is a historic Rose Garden area has well known streets like University and Shasta. Hoover Middle and Lincoln High School are located in the Rose Garden area.
The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum & Planetarium is located in the Rose Garden area. This museum is hard to miss. It’s the building on Park Ave that resembles an Eqyptian temple. It actually has the largest collection of Eqyptian artifacts in the western US.
The homes in the Rose Garden area are historic. Some are English Tudor Style, Colonial Style, Craftsman Style and the Cottage Bungalow Style. They range from 1920’s through the 1940’s.
